Dear Editor: On Tuesday, April 18, the citizens of Hoboken will choose three candidates to represent them for the next three years on the Hoboken School Board. While this letter is not going to endorse any candidates it is clearly asking the residents of Hoboken to reject the candidacy of Michele Russo because of numerous conflicts of interest that already exist but would be compounded if she were elected on April 18, 2000. As everyone knows Michele is the wife of the current mayor. Michele is also a developer in Hoboken. She is President of M&L Development Corporation and just recently completed a project at 325 Monroe Street. Michele is also a real estate agent for Riverside Realty. Just take a tour around Hoboken and you will see many signs on new developments, listing Riverside Realty as the exclusive agent. What makes that real estate agency better than all the others? Could it be the connection to the mayor's wife? Most, if not all of the projects that have exclusive listings with Riverside Realty need to be presented before the Hoboken Planning Board or the Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustments. Both boards are stacked with Hoboken school system employees. The Hoboken Planning Board has a school principal on it. The Zoning Board of Adjustments has three Hoboken teachers and a school administrator on the board. The Planning Board also has a Parking Authority employee on the board. Michele is a commissioner on the Hoboken Parking Authority. Another Parking Authority employee is also employed by Riverside Realty and the same employee is also a commissioner for the Hoboken Housing Authority. The list of conflicts with Michele Russo goes on and on. It is time to stop all the negative press Hoboken has gotten over the past several years. Together we can help stop the conflicts. On Tuesday, April 18 please vote for anyone except Michele Russo. Anonymous
