Dear Editor:

The 2009 One Jersey City team of council candidates, Andrew Hubsch, Emilio DeLia, Norrice Raymaker, Doug Salters, and I, endorse Rolando Lavarro for Ward A city council in the run-off election on June 9th.

Rolando is committed to reform measures, including requiring developers to disclose campaign contributions; implementing a formal and open process for citizens to apply for positions on municipal boards, commissions and authorities; and activating the non-functioning Environmental Commission. He will bring his extensive experience in community service to real and meaningful government-community partnerships.

He has promised the residents of Ward A to be the most accountable, available, and responsive councilman in the history of Jersey City.

We share Rolando’s commitment to a more accountable and responsive local government. Government should work for the people, and Rolando Lavarro’s election will help insure it does.
