HUDSON COUNTY – There’s plenty to read in this week’s editions of the Hudson Reporter.

You can pick up your print edition around town this weekend, or come back to this website starting Sunday and scroll down your town’s page to read the stories.

In West New York, the FBI came to town again, but this time they arrested maverick Mayor Felix Roque and his son on charges of allegedly tampering with a website created by his political opponents. In Union City, Sen. Robert Menendez kicked off his reelection campaign in the city where he grew up.

A well-known Hoboken political operative faces harassment charges leveled by a Board of Education member in a case in which a number of school board members were served with subpoenas. The City Council will have to decide next week whether to allow the Zimmer Administration to condemn a 4th Ward parking lot it wants for a park. The debate is on over whether the Connors school should become the city’s new middle school, and we have a profile of HUMC’s new emergency room director.

In Jersey City the mayor has appointed a new police director after the City Council refused to approve his first choice, a hearing was held on the sale of Christ Hospital to a for-profit company, and in time for Memorial Day we have a Greatest Generation profile of a WW11 veteran.

This weekend the dinosaurs come to Secaucus, and the Town Council has reduced the school budget, lessening the school tax increase somewhat on property owners, and we also have a report on the town’s annual Memorial Day parade last weekend.

Tyler Griffin, the North Bergen rapper who helped Nicholas Sacco’s mayoral campaign, got into a hassle with the high school administration because they wouldn’t let him rap for the annual school vocal showcase, and our story delves into why. And our new North Bergen reporter has discovered that despite the tight economy people are spending more than ever on their pets.

In Weehawken, we have stories about a local environmentalist who helped plant 600 trees as part of the Amazon Preservation Project, and a warning from the local police that the coming of warm weather also means the opening of home improvement scam season.

All this, plus Jim Hague’s sports reporting and the always-provocative Al Sullivan’s ‘Between The Lines.’

So pick up a copy of your town’s edition of the Hudson Reporter newspapers and read more about what’s happening in your town than you’ll find anywhere else

it should also be noted that the "well-known Hoboken political operative [who] faces harassment charges leveled by a Board of Education member in a case in which a number of school board members were served with subpoenas" is a paid member of Beth Mason's staff. Some say he's her chief of staff.

For those keeping score at home, Beth Mason is a council person for one ward in a mile-square town, and she has a full-time staff of consultants and operatives. and runs ads in the hoboken reporter five weeks in a row, even though she's isn't facing an election for years to come. Something smell fishy to you??

This week Councilwoman Mason's paid political consultant James Brancato tries to save and continue her Nazi smear campain against one her of her jewish political foes in Al Sulivan's column. Mr. Brancato like Mrs. Mason herself is very adept at finding ways to destort the truth by taking it out of context and spinning it into non-truth..

It should be noted that the Mason's again purchased a half page in the Hoboken Reporter.
