Founded in 1983, The Hudson Reporter publishes nine weekly newspapers, capturing the highest home-delivered circulation of any newspaper in Hudson County. Our award-winning periodicals also include specialty publications and two, glossy magazines: Jersey City Magazine and Palisade. The past few years have brought tremendous change to the western banks of the Hudson River. As newcomers flock to the area and explore their surroundings, long-time residents are meeting their neighbors - and discovering new opportunities - at every turn. Luxury developments line the riverbanks, and boutiques, restaurants and art galleries are opening every week. Young families fill the streets with baby carriages. Empty nesters and young artists wait together for trains running along the expanding light rail system. But change can be hard. Transformation does not come easily. How does one gain a sense of community in a new and evolving place? Where can you turn for resources, entertainment and a bird's-eye view of our home along the Hudson? We created hudsonreporter.com to answer some of those questions, yet we hope it will do more. We'd like our site to be a sort of meeting place a town square, if you will, where you can read about the people, politics and places that make living here so exciting.

I am writing because I think it is disgusting that the commissioners and Dawn Zimmer will not vote to start building the new buildings for the HHA. Mr. Garcia has done everything they asked of him and more and they are playing games. Zimmer who is the Mayor should think of these people because they are human beings not animals. She knew how to go down there when she wanted our votes, but now she acts like HHA is not a part of Hoboken. A lot of us are working and many disabled or seniors. Just because we cannot afford to pay high rents doesn't mean that we don't deserve a better place to live. I am sure that she has a beautiful home. Well we deserve a nice home that is not falling apart. This is a disgrace that our SO CALLED MAYOR THINKS THAT WE DON'T DESERVE A DECENT PLACE TO LIVE. Remember your Mayor of all of Hoboken Not Mayor of Washington street. We are a part of Hoboken weather you like it or not and we have faith in Mr. Garcia and he will get that building up with or without your help. Cause WE CAN, WE WILL, WATCH US. You know it is the right thing to do for the people. Show the people that we made the right choice when we voted for you. Be a Mayor who really cares about her people. Have compassion for our children and our seniors. You say you don't know about the building plans, That's all a lot of crap cause this has been going on for 3 years. So who's playing games? Get it done already and stop the games.

This is in response to your article in the Jersey City Magazine, spring/summer 2013 issue - "A Dog's Life." I am both saddened and infuriated about the outcome of the dog's injuries as a result of the razor wire. I feel this should not be sweep away and the family should be compensated for the loss of their family member. It isn't enough to clear the area of the wire and debris....the devastating untimely death of their 'child' will never be erased from their memories. How can heartbreak be taken away? The property owner needs to know that he is responsible for this and should compensate the family for their tragic loss.

Once again, your newspaper has leapt to the front of the line as "The Most Worthless Newspaper in America." The front-page article on the Roosevelt Dime music group made no mention of the black member except for naming him in one caption. All other musicians are discussed in musical terms or quoted, but not Bruce Harris. Shame on both the reporter and the editor.

St. Peter's University has YET to post the Women's Soccer Head Coach position! It's outrageous that these players are without a coach, without a leader for their spring season, and without a recruiter who should be actively seeking skilled players for the 2013 season! The women's team has heart and skill but they need a coach! Come on St. Pete's Athletic Department -- get on the stick! These girls followed their dream of playing Division I soccer to St. Peter's and YOU have let them down!

Hello, please help me !!!

I am looking desperately for relatives by the name of Vetter in Secaucus.

They lived 204, Meadow Lane in 1923.

They had connections/relatives back in the Netherlands/Amsterdam, Sipke D. Mayer who visited his cousin John Vetter in Secaucus in 1923, could be they had a business then at the a.m. adress.

Where could I turn to to ask who lived at the a.m. address in 1923?

Every little bit of information would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

Anita Maijer-Schrot/Amsterdam
